We're Not in Kansas Anymore, Toto...

but we WERE!!

We crafted a plan to visit my good friend Jessi's grandparents and the weekend also happened to fall on the weekend of my mom's birthday and deathday {coincidence? no!}. The day of her birth and the day she died are only two days {and 37 years} apart and it is a REALLY hard time for me. So we got out of town!

We being these two lovelies:
                 Jessi, Jenni and Yours Truly leaving my house on Day One

That's right, my husband watched four kids for four days (Mason was at his dads) while I went on a road trip with two of my best friends. I about fell over when he agreed to it!

It was a little rough saying goodbye to my two littlest:
                                    Yes, they are still in diapers! It was 9 in the morning!

But then the adventure began!!!

     That floppy hat (got it at Target) was amazing!! It made its rounds on our trip!

                                                                             Jenni face!
                                                              Jessi's grandpa!

{See? I TOLD you that hat got around! ;)}

Anyhow, this trip was just what I needed! An escape to Topeka, Kansas with tons of laughter, many, many adventures and two of my best friends...my cup is full and my heart is happy!!

And then on the first day back home, I went to the dentist. I have not been in 10 years. : /
But that's another story for another day.....

stream of consciousness, much?

I am sitting here in bed with my babies { I will forever call them my babies} letting them suck on my Vitamin C drops that have a permanent home here on my nightstand.

I just bought new Crocs online for my dudes. I will always-always stand by Crocs.
1.) They are easy for kids to get on.
2. )They come in the most amazing colors and I LOVE color!
3.) Did I mention they are easy for kids to put on?? and when you are trying to get out the door with 3/2/5/however many are home at the time kids, anything that makes the task easier is my friend.

I am feeling much, much better and am almost done with my antibiotics. I had to fire my nanny ( she comes over on the two days I attend school) this morning. Ew. NOT.FUN. But it had to be done.

I was supposed to meet a friend at the gym but decided we just needed a day to not have any plans, have to go anywhere. So that's just what we are doing! and it's wonderful!!

Happy Wednesday Friends! What are you up to today?

::peeking out from the sick cave::

Bronchitis hit my body furiously fast and hard this week {which also happens to be our Spring Break, of course, right?}

Never have I ever been this sick. Ever. I laid in bed all day, for 5 days, getting up to re-fill my cranberry juice and pee. {Just how much cranberry juice I drank is my little secret, but when you have no appetite for food, there must be something going in and that something was cranberry juice.}

I have been on antibiotics since Monday and I am just.now. starting to feel a glimmer of normal again.

Enough to peek in and say, "Read this." It hit home with me, in my struggles with bi-polar disorder.

So, yeah, read that. And also? Have a great weekend too!

Giving me the heeby-jeebies!!

We live in a small town, by a bunch of fields.
Which means, when it gets cold, in come the mice. Ugh! EW! Shivershudderskincrawlingdisgustingness!!!

I shut down when I see a mouse scurry across the floor. I freeze and freak. Oh and scream.

And that happened tonight. SOoooooooo gross!!

Matt just looked at me and smirked, like, Are you done screaming yet? Such a boy.

Anyhow, usually we put out Dcon traps that are covered so it kills them and then you can release the lever, it drops the dead mouse into the trash bin and we {meaning Matt, I do not touch these} reset and use again-see below.

The lady that lived in this home before us was disgusting! and didn't clean, um, EVER! so the mice problem was B.A.D when we first moved in- we caught over 20! in a week! ew!

It's not quite as bad now but out come the traps again! I hate MICE!!!!!!

Have any of you ever had an encounter with a mouse in your home?

Don't worry...be happy!

Hi friends!

I am sloowwwwllyyy coming out of my funk, and just in time because:

March is National Optimism month!!!

So I am going to focus on the good this month, because life really *is* beautiful!

Oh, you want an example? Mmmkay then, I just haappppeeennn to have one for you. ;)

My last class was cancelled today so I picked up Mason from school myself and took my boy for ice cream and to pick up his first reward earned from the good 'ol sticker chart!
 I then lost my keys by leaving them in a cart in Wally World whilst looking for a childrens alarm clock {yes, my kid is a nerd and wants an alarm clock for his reward}. We went out to the car to sit and wait for someone to turn in my keys.

Mason: "Mom?"
Mom: "Yeah?"
Mason: "I love you."
Mom: "I love you too Mason. A LOT!"
Mason: "I love you more."
Mom: "I don't think you could love me more than I love you, because I carried you in my belly and waited and waited for you. You were made to be my son."
Mason: "You were made to be my mom and you are the best mom for me ever!"

Wow, just wow. If I can't find the optimism and beauty in that statement, then I can't find it anywhere! right? I am blessed beyond belief with amazing, amazing kids who make me laugh, cry, question, think, and grow.

so to sum up this post:
- be HAPPY in March!
- my son is a nerd! {a cute nerd! with auburn hair and freckles to boot!}
- being a mom rocks!
